On March 1, Korean telecom KTF unveiled the nationwide HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) service, named SHOW, and claimed to be the first in Korean, for its existing 2.7 million subscribers to enjoy 3G services through 3G mobile phones. Based on the WCDMA (Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access) platform, the new service will use the same frequency bandwidth 2.1 GHz used by SKT, boosting its data download speeds to up to seven times that of the current CDMA platform. The company stated it has injected an approximately 1.8 trillion Won (US$1.9 billion; US$1 = 944.2 Won) into its HSDPA network, with an extra 400 billion Won (US$423.6 million) to be injected in 2007.
